Carduelis flammea
Common Redpoll male, perched on clotheslineWe have had the redpolls here since January. They like the shelled sunflower seeds and the suet cakes, as well as the birch tree seeds. One interesting fact is that they have throat pouches for temporarily storing seeds. Sometimes they will fill their pouches and then fly to a more sheltered spot to eat.

Interesting shots of the American Robin April but the Common Redpoll capture really is inspiring. Beautiful photos, thanks!
The Redpoll picture is gorgeous!
What a beautiful Redpoll, and with the contrast of the blue clothes line you captured, it's even more beautiful!
I truly LOVE that last photo! The bird is beautiful and the photo is amazing!
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a big fan of your blog and your photos.
Beautiful Redpoll photo! Glad your Robins showed up.
Very nice - I see you got our Robins now! :) Great Redpoll capture, too!
Cheers, Klaus
P.S.: And of course a neat Skywatch Post!
